WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- For the second year in a row, I attended the creative arts conference The Breath & The Clay, held March 23-25, 2018 at Awake Church in Winston, as one of their juried artists.
In its fifth year, the conference is growing by leaps and bounds and offered plenty of exciting speakers, worship, and art of every form: music, dance, visual 2D and 3D, poetry, and more. The B&C, billed as "a creative arts gathering exploring the intersections of art, faith & culture," is the brainchild of the gifted writer/poet/musician Stephen Roach.
Some of my faves were storyteller Ray Hughes, Aussie poet Joel McKerrow, Cayman Islands painter/sculptor Avril Ward, musicians Jason Upton and John Mark McMillan, and everyone's darlings, Jonathan and Melissa Helser. Authenticity in one's art was a common theme.
I came away with an uplifted spirit, encouraged heart, and a full journal of inspiring notes.
Check out The Breath & The Clay's website and YouTube videos, and put the conference on your 2019 calendar. You'll be so glad you did!
